When you review the list of students being transferred, you see which students are Matched to (and will be merged with) students already on your site, and which students will be copied over to your site as a New Student. You can choose to edit the match for any student. When you choose Edit, you come to the Review and Edit Student page.
On this page, you can look for a match for unmatched students, or you can decide to import a matched student as a new student instead.
Finding a Match for a Student
At the top of the page, you will see the selected student's information from the student's original site. (If the student was in more than one school, you will see a link with the number of schools; select the link to see the school names.)
If the student is not matched to a student already on your site, search for a matching student on your site. Enter the student's first and/or last name. You can also use the drop-down lists to narrow the list to a specific school or year (select Clear to go back to all schools and years). In the list of results, you can select for a student to see the student's state ID, middle name, and date of birth.
When you find a matching student, select the circle in the row for that student. Then, select Match Student at the bottom of the page. (The Create New Student option keeps the student unmatched, so the student will simply be copied to your site as a new student.) If you do not want to change anything right now, you can also choose the Decide Later link next to the buttons.
When you edit a student's match, you can tick Review the next student to go automatically to the next student after you make a matching choice for this student. If the box is not ticked, you will go back to the previous page after making a selection.
Removing a Match for a Student
If the student has already been matched, and you want to remove the match, select Create New Student; if you do not select another match, the student will be copied to your site without being merged with an existing record. (The Match Student option keeps the student's current match.) If you want to go back without changing anything right now, you can also choose the Decide Later link next to the buttons; note that the student will not be marked as reviewed in the list of students.
