On the My Targets tab, you can see your progress toward your reading targets. If you do not have targets, the tab's name is My Progress instead, and you will see your reading progress. This is the first tab that you see when you select Progress in Accelerated Reader or when you use Renaissance Home Connect.
Are you a parent? If your school makes the Get Email Updates link available at the top of the page, you can select it and choose to receive emails whenever your child takes Accelerated Reader quizzes or Star tests. You can also see your child's Star scores on the My Targets tab. To look up books that have Accelerated Reader quizzes, go to https://www.arbookfind.co.uk (UK) or https://www.arbookfind.com.au/ (Australia).
The targets and progress that you see are for the marking period that is happening now. A marking period may be a term or any time period that your school uses for targets. To see your progress for a different marking period, use the drop-down list to choose it. If you choose a past marking period, you will see whether you met your targets for that marking period.
Points Target
Next, you will see how many points you have earned. You earn points by reading books and articles and passing quizzes.
If You Have Targets
If your teacher has set reading targets for the marking period, first you will see a message telling you how you are doing on your points target. The message will tell you how many points you need to earn to stay on track or to help you make your target. A line below the message will show you the start and end date for the marking period and how much time is left.
Next, a line will show the points you have earned; the target is under the line. In the example below, the student's target is 54.8 points, and the student has earned 37.4 points.
When you meet your target, the line will go all the way to the right. Select Continue.
You will see fireworks. Select Continue.
After that, you will see how many points you have earned.
If You Do not Have a Target
If you do not have targets, the message will tell you how many days are left in the marking period.
The page will show how many points you have earned.
Overall Quiz Scores
This graph shows you how well you are doing on quizzes overall (an average score for your quizzes). The more questions you answer correctly on quizzes, the better your overall score will be. The large number shows your overall score. Below your score, you will see whether your score is at or below your target and what your target is. The graph will also show you where the target is and where your score is.
In the example above, the student's target is 85%, and the student's average score is 88%, so the student's score is higher than the target.
Reading Range
Next you will see your reading range. The range shows you the book levels for books that are right for you. Below your reading range, you will see a message about your reading. If you are ready to find your next book, select Find More Books to Read under the message.
About Your Reading
Below the graphs, you will see more information about your reading during the marking period.
Quizzes Passed shows you how many quizzes you have passed. This number includes any type of Accelerated Reader quiz that you have passed.
Words Read shows you how many words you have read based on the Reading Practice Quizzes and Article Quizzes you passed. When you pass a quiz, you get credit for all the words in the book or article.
Fiction Read shows you how much of your reading has been fiction (fiction stories are made up). This comes from the points you earn when you pass quizzes. Non-fiction Read shows you what percentage of your reading has been non-fiction. Non-fiction books and articles describe real events or information.
Star Unified Scores
If you have taken Star Reading and/or Star Maths tests during the marking period, you will see your latest score(s) at the bottom of the page. These are Unified scale scores.
Other Progress
Click one of the other tabs to see more information about your work. If your teacher has set certification targets, you can see them on the My Certifications tab. The My Completed Work tab shows you the reading quizzes that you have taken.
Going Back to the Reading Page
If you want to go back to find a book or take a quiz, select Reading at the top of the page. This option is not there if you are using Renaissance Home Connect.
